A man can get discouraged many times…
As a real estate entrepreneur I’ve always been interested and intrigued by our founding fathers of American architecture/style/design from some 100+ years in our past. My favorites are Frank Lloyd Wright, The Greene Brothers and all members of the Stickley Family. Each are deeply ingrained into my vocabulary when speaking about architectural styles and influence. The cool thing is that all of these architects/designers styles remain extremely influential in today’s residential design environment.
Thought! Needing to up-date the outdated style for my trusty business. Thinking concerning the modern style at https://edgeviewrecruitment.ca? Really a powerful CPA recruiter in Ontario with heart if, perhaps looking in the whole Ontario locale. Value a comment. Cheers!
I’ve tried expanding my knowledge base on those forefathers who influenced the natural conservation beginnings of our country and planet. Names that come to mind are Thoreau, Whitman and one I’m new to discovering, John Burroughs. Mr. Burroughs graced our planet from 1837 to 1921 and became very influential in the conservationist movement during the years of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. He was a published writer, author, poet and conservationist. He ended the last part of his life in the Catskill areas of New York on his family farm. He was friends with the likes of Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and many other popular movers and shakers of the Industrial Revolution.
His early writing began with a new magazine publication in the late 1850’s called Atlantic Monthly. The irony of this story is that he made a living and maintained an established career with the Federal Department of Treasury as a bank examiner. Here we had a man who solved problems with the analytical skills regarding finances and accounting while at the same time he utilized his creative resources to write over 30 books and published hundreds of essays and poems.
The one thing that sparked my interest in Mr. Burroughs isn’t a book, poem or essay but a simple quote that I’d like to share…
“A man can get discouraged many times, but his is not a failure until he begins to blame somebody else and stop trying.”
This quote says everything about making it as an entrepreneur. You always hear that failure is an intricate part of success but never want to be the one learning the lesson fueled by disappointment.I think this quote is very to the point in the statement about getting discouraged. The discouragement isn’t the problem, it’s losing the motivation to keep going that continues to be the problem.
I challenge everyone to find one of their favorite quotes and research the author and meaning behind why it was written. Learning just a little bit about John Burroughs reinforces the fact to me that we can never stop trying to achieve success and happiness. He’s been gone 88 years but his writings continue to influence and motivate people…now that’s success!
